Whey protein is a complete protein, meaning it provides all of the essential amino acids the body cannot produce on its own. It is particularly rich in cysteine, which supports the production of glutathione — one of the body’s most important antioxidants. Whey is also abundant in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), especially leucine, which directly activates the mTOR pathway, the regulator of protein synthesis in muscle tissue.
