Derek Johnson has over 25 years’ experience as an integrative and holistic nutritionist who is passionate about coaching people on how to make healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes. Derek, as the eponymous owner of his successful telehealth nutrition consulting practice Derek Johnson Nutrition, provides personalized and custom wellness programs for each client’s unique body and goals. Since it's inception, Derek has helped thousands of people across the country to reach and maintain their wellness goals. He is partnered with several integrative medicine doctors/practitioners allowing him and his clients access to the best treatments and testing available.

While maintaining his practice in CA, from 2011- 2019 Derek also concurrently utilized his considerable expertise in nutrition, diet, weight loss and health to The Biggest Loser Resorts. As Executive Nutrition Director, he was responsible for the overall direction, curriculum and management of the nutrition and integrative health goals of all the resorts. Derek also managed the training of resort educational staff, worked closely with the executive chefs and provided nutrition expertise for marketing and media-related outlets.

Derek is a well-regarded expert in weight loss resistance, gastrointestinal health, sports nutrition, adrenal fatigue and numerous other areas and confers with a panel of notable physicians on a case-by-case basis. His clients range from Hollywood stars and directors like Chris Pratt, Michelle Williams, James Franco, Chris O’Donnell, Reese Weatherspoon, Craig T. Nelson, Owen Wilson (just to name a few) to professional athletes in the MLB, NBA, NHL, to CEOs, moms and teens. In addition, he regularly lectures at seminars and corporate events and has been featured by many media outlets over the years including E! Entertainment, The Today Show, People, Elle and Men’s Fitness and many more.

He sits on the Scientific Advisory Board for Designs for Health, is Board Certified in Integrative Health, and has been a member of many nutrition associations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from California State University, Chico. After years of separation from his traditional training he has been recently approved with the State Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Council and will sit for his R.D. exam in 2024.
